You will LOVE the airliner if you can get one. Oh well, you will just have to "stand" at the front of the room to work for now. Nothing worse than a sage on the stage in a classroom. Tsk, tsk. I think I'd much rather have that guide on the side using the airliner. Don't forget people are making portable devices to act similar using a wii-mote at a fraction of the cost of these fancy named slates.

Matt,

Good to hear from some of my former students. I hope you're having fun in 8th grade. No...unfortunately, I don't think the Yankees can pull it out this year. It would be pretty sweet if they did. I hope you guys had a nice day off for Hurricane Hanna. We'll have a few snow days this year!! And luckily the Jersey Devil only hangs out down in South Jersey...I'm in the North...pheww!!

So you say you are bringing in a projector? Where is it coming from?? YEAHHH!!! You will do fine Granito--just fine. We have EVERY BIT of confidence that you will get through this. As I hear about grants, I will continue to send them to you as well--with blessings I might add. I did tell TPTB that I would be sharing them. I'm excited to know you are not abandoning the blog, and hope to read all about your successes. Advice? Share ALL your students successes b/c of the technology with your administration. USE your technology to engage students, increase excitement in coming to your class, and do what ever you can to make your students, your administration, and your school LOOK GOOD! You will be floored at what these simple things will gain you. The rewards might even be more technology. Offer to lead other teachers (technophobes, veterans, AND newbies) into authentically using technology with their students. Do show and tells and help those who need it. Empower other teachers with your skills. OFFER to create web presence for your school if they do not have a one. There is MUCH to gain from doing these things, and WHO KNOWS where this will lead? You have much to gain form the skills you have. I am so proud to have been a small part in igniting your interest, though I realize a BIG PART of it was HCS and their laptop initiative. You are poised for greatness. Take advantage of that.

One last thing. Remember as a new person on your staff, you are on a new honeymoon. As a honeymooner, ask for EVERYTHING. Nothing is too grand. You may be pleasantly surprised at what is given, all b/c you asked. Teachers who have been there even a year do not have the freedom or comfort to ask. You are not supposed to know what not to ask for--so ask for it all.

Please keep usinformed okay? PS--should I sponsor the Stock Market Club? Im thinking about it.....
